We are looking for artists to take part in an exhibition exploring the emotions, experiences and connections that make us human.

What does being human mean to you?
We invite artists to explore the emotions and experiences that shape our lives. Your work might reflect love, joy, hope, fear, grief, loneliness, friendship, family, identity, resilience, vulnerability or the relationships that connect us.
Whether inspired by your own life, the lives of others or the world around you, we want to see work that tells a story, sparks a feeling or captures a moment of the human experience.
There is no right or wrong interpretation. We simply want to see your unique perspective.
Artists working in all mediums are welcome to apply.
We look forward to seeing your interpretation of Human.

EXHIBITION DETAILS
• Exhibition dates: 20th – 29th November 2026
• Opening hours: Tuesday–Saturday 11am–4pm | Sunday 11am–3pm
• Artwork delivery: Tuesday 17th November, 11am–2pm
• Private View: Friday 20th November, 6–8pm
• Public opening: Saturday 21st November
• Collection of unsold work: Sunday 29th November, 4–5pm
WALL SPACE & FEES
• 200W × 100H cm – £265
• 100W × 100H cm – £195
• 50W × 100H cm – £125
The measurements given are the maximum overall space available, including the frame.
Please make sure your artwork fits within your chosen space. If you are exhibiting more than one artwork, please allow approximately 5cm between each piece.
PLINTH SPACE
• 93W × 30D cm – £125
For floor-standing sculpture. Please contact me if you have a sculpture requiring a different amount of space, and we can discuss this.

• 5 images of your work (JPG format) showing the style and medium you would like to exhibit. Please attach the images directly to your email rather than sending them via WeTransfer, Google Drive or similar.
• Your preferred wall space size
• If applying for a plinth space, please include the approximate dimensions of your sculpture.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
All work must be for sale.
Gallery commission: 20% on all sales.
Artists are responsible for insuring their artwork during transit to and from the gallery and while it is on display at the gallery.

• A dedicated webpage featuring your artwork and artist biography
• A QR code in the gallery will link directly to the online exhibition page

• Private View, including staffing and refreshments
• Gallery administration and stewarding
INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS – CUSTOMS, SHIPPING & INSURANCE
Artists based outside the UK are very welcome to apply.
However, if you are sending or bringing artwork to the UK from outside the UK, there are additional customs, import, shipping and insurance requirements that you will need to consider.
The artist is responsible for arranging the shipment and import of their artwork into the UK and for ensuring that all applicable customs requirements are correctly completed.
This includes:
• Arranging suitable international shipping
• Arranging appropriate insurance for the artwork during transportation and, where appropriate, while the artwork is being exhibited
• Completing all required customs declarations and documentation
• Providing accurate information about the artwork, including its description, value, materials, dimensions and country of origin
• Providing an accurate value for customs, shipping and insurance purposes
• Ensuring that the artwork is correctly declared when entering the UK
• Arranging the appropriate customs procedure where applicable, including Temporary Admission
• Paying any import VAT, customs duty, customs fees, handling charges, brokerage fees or other charges that may become payable
• Complying with any export or customs requirements in the country from which the artwork is being sent
• Checking whether any licences or permits are required for materials used in the artwork
• Arranging and paying for the return shipment of any unsold artwork
Artwork must not be deliberately undervalued or inaccurately described on customs, shipping or other official documentation.
Insurance
All artwork is sent, exhibited and returned at the artist's own risk.
Star Brewery Gallery does not insure artwork on behalf of artists. Artists are responsible for arranging appropriate insurance for their artwork, including during transportation to and from the gallery and, where appropriate, during the exhibition.
Please ensure that your insurance provides adequate cover for the full value of your artwork.
Temporary Admission
HMRC's Temporary Admission procedure may allow qualifying works of art to be temporarily imported into the UK for exhibition with a view to possible sale, subject to the relevant conditions and customs requirements.
Temporary Admission is not automatic. Artists are responsible for establishing whether their artwork qualifies and for ensuring that the correct customs procedure and documentation are arranged before the artwork is sent or brought to the UK.
We strongly recommend discussing this with your chosen shipping company or customs agent before sending or bringing your artwork to the UK.
Star Brewery Gallery cannot determine whether an individual artwork qualifies for Temporary Admission and cannot provide customs or tax advice.
Customs Responsibility
Unless expressly agreed in writing in advance, Star Brewery Gallery will not act as the importer, declarant, customs debtor or customs agent for artwork being brought into the UK from outside the UK.
The artist remains responsible for ensuring that the appropriate customs procedure is arranged and correctly completed.
If artwork is sent without the correct customs documentation or arrangements, the gallery cannot accept responsibility for delays, customs charges, penalties, storage fees, return costs or other consequences.
Artists should not send or bring artwork to the gallery until they have established the correct customs, shipping and insurance arrangements.
If Your Artwork Is Sold
If artwork is sold while in the UK, any customs or import requirements arising from the sale must be dealt with correctly before the artwork is released to the buyer.
The artist remains responsible for ensuring that any applicable customs procedure is correctly discharged and for any import VAT, customs duty, customs charges or other costs that may arise.
The sale of artwork through Star Brewery Gallery does not transfer the artist's customs or import obligations to the gallery.
Unsold Artwork
Any artwork that remains unsold at the end of the exhibition must be collected from Star Brewery Gallery on the collection date stated above.
The artist is responsible for arranging and paying for the return shipping and insurance of their artwork.
For international returns, the artist is also responsible for any relevant customs declarations, export requirements and customs procedures.
Star Brewery Gallery does not provide storage for artwork after the exhibition.
Artists should therefore ensure that their shipping company or courier is booked in advance and is able to collect the artwork on the specified collection date.
Important Information for International Artists
Please take into consideration all additional costs associated with exhibiting in the UK, including:
• International shipping
• Return shipping
• Insurance
• Import VAT, where applicable
• Customs duty, where applicable
• Customs and brokerage fees
• Any other import or export charges
We strongly recommend using a reputable international art shipper or customs agent and obtaining professional customs or tax advice where necessary.
By applying to take part in HUMAN, international artists confirm that they have read and understood this information and accept responsibility for complying with the customs, import, shipping, insurance and tax requirements relating to their artwork.
Please do not send or bring artwork to Star Brewery Gallery from outside the UK until you have established the correct customs, shipping, insurance and import arrangements for your artwork.
